The steps
Place des Vosges
Start under the arcades and observe the regular layout and connections into Le Marais.
Place de la Bastille
Reach Bastille through neighbourhood streets. Use marked crossings because traffic is heavy.
Place d’Aligre
Continue towards Aligre and check market hours if you want to see the stalls. The square also has interest outside market times.

Place de la Nation
If the group still has energy, continue through residential streets towards Nation. This final stop can also be reached by transport or omitted.
Compare uses as well as architecture
Each square plays a different role: regular historical composition at Vosges, crossroads at Bastille, market at Aligre and a major urban node at Nation. Observe everyday use alongside the buildings.
A shorter version
Place des Vosges, Bastille and Aligre make a shorter sequence. Aligre is best understood while its market is active; check hours before departure.
